In terms of Regulation 6 of the Noise Induced Hearing Loss Regulations, 2003, as incorporated under the Occupational Health and Safety Act, 85 of 1993, it is a legal requirement that employers that generate noise within there working environment conduct noise monitoring every 24 months.
HCS or “hazardous chemical substance” is identified as any toxic, harmful, corrosive, irritant or asphyxiant substance, or a mixture of such substances in the workplace. These HCSs will be in the form of dusts, fumes, vapours, mists and gases.
